| 20 March | “Legacies of War: History, Healing and Hope in Laos” – Multimedia presentation from Channapha Khamvongsa, Executive Director at Legacies of War: Legacies of War is a nonprofit based in DC, which brings people together to create healing and transformation out of the wreckage of war. It focuses specifically on raising awareness about the long term effects of the Vietnam War era in Laos and advocates for U.S. support to clear the country of explosive remnants of war. | 20 March | Presentation from the Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs (PM/WRA): The current Memorial Fellow from JMU, Lindsay Aldrich, MPA, who is working as an Assistant Program Manager for North Africa and the Near East, and a former Fellow, Emma Atkinson, who is now a WRA Program Coordinator for East Asia Pacific/Oceania, will speak about their work to JMU classes. Lindsay recently returned from a DOS trip to the Middle East; likewise, Emma has recently returned from Cambodia and Burma.
